Default BMR STB doesn't fit?

My BMR strut tower bar finally arrived yesterday, and I went out right away to try to install it on my '01 Z28. Obviously not a complicated thing, but I never the less followed the instructions to the letter, put the bar over the passenger side bolts and rotate down onto the drivers side. But the slots in the bar didn't line up with the bolts, they went about half an inch too far. Tried putting it on the drivers side first, tried both sides at the same time, no go, and its off way too much to force in. Does this sound like a manufacturing error in the bar? Did I get sent the wrong bar by mistake? Or is the problem in the car itself? I'll try to post some pictures of the bar sitting in the engine bay later, but has anyone had a problem like this? Seems like an STB would be a hard thing to mess up.

Car ever wrecked? It would have to be bad for it not to line up like that. If you car hasnt been wrecked and your not putting it on backwards then I'd say it was made wrong.

Yeah, I agree it sounds like it wasn't made correctly.

Need to see pics. The STB is a straight forward install, never had an issue when I installed mine. I'd say either you were shipped the wrong one or it was made wrong.

I bought the car used about 3 and a half years ago, but there's no indication its ever been wrecked, and I've been all over the car. No signs of repainting or any obviously repaired bends in the frame, though I've always been a little suspicious because I got quite a deal on it. Any other telltale signs to check for?

EDIT: And pics when I get home from work, later tonight

I'm positive I don't, but thanks for the vote of confidence

Couldn't get pics of the bar tonight, it was pouring rain, hopefully tomorrow.

You might have to unload the suspension. I had to do that to reinstall mine.

Unloading the suspension worked! Thanks for the suggestion, the bar is on

Thumbs down to BMR for not even mentioning in their "literature" that comes with the bar that unloading might be necessary, seems like something they could throw in just to cover their bases. And thumbs down also for their crappy washers that wouldn't fit, I won't be buying anything else from them since they can't get the simplest of parts right.
