Default What is wrong withautoparts store Cheap shocks??

i know most people on here will say stock shocks suck
but whats wrong with just going to local parts store and buying replacement shocks for cheap. is it realllly worth spending the 6-800 just for shocks?

The cheap replacement autoparts shocks will suck as much as the stock ones. Thats why they are cheap. You get what you pay for. If you want your car to perform you need a quality shock. Talk to one of the sponsors and they can help you out. Sam @ Strano Parts would be a great place to start. He can answer all your questions.

Would you drive to the local parts store and buy a stock replacement camshaft and install it? It's not much different with shocks.

I bought a pair of cheapy Pep Boy (Gabriel?) Shocks for my wifes old geo metro. I swear the new ones I put on were were then the old ones that I took off.

If I had absolutely no money and my stock shocks were completely broken, I guess I might consider getting autozone replacement ones but for stock springs only and it would depend on how much cheaper they are than Bilstien HDs

If your stock shocks are just worn and causing a bouncy ride, you'd be better off keeping your worn stock shocks in than wasting money on autozone replacements.
