Best budget shock/spring combo?
Getting bigger rims so Im looking for a good set of shocks and progressive springs that wont break the bank. I would like to have as smooth of a ride as possible. Any suggestions?
Drop maybe 1.2-2 (somewhere in there)

$269 for springs, and I think I paid $820ish shipped for the shocks, I got the 4/4 package which are easier to adjust the rear.

Sorry, don't have time right now to resize a couple pics and link them, so that's a whole folder of them. The NBM LS1 car is mine, the 30th is my buddy's.
Ride is much improved over stock stuff (even springs! I didn't like the stock springs on my Konis), and would be about perfect if I didn't have SFCs installed (they make the car FEEL harsher).

Can lower the rear of the car another 1/2" or so by taking out the spring isolator and using heater hose instead, but I like the slightly raked look. The right rear of my car sits slightly higher than the left, so I'll probably be doing that to the right rear spring (not the springs, my frame is a bit tweaked from an accident early in its life before I picked it up).

Couldn't be happier w the combo. Did the Konis 1st-->night and day diff. Switched from stock to Strano's springs recently--->another huge leap both in control and ride IMHO. Its firm but not harsh. 1.2" drop is nice also.

$825 for the shocks (a year ago)
$269 for the springs (a few months ago)
Call up Strano, Koni sets limits on the price 4 thier shocks, so you won't find them much cheaper. And his service, knowledge and support make him the guy to buy from.

You guys are all mentioning Strano springs which I'm sure are good springs but I don't think they are progressive rate like he asked. I am going to be getting new springs and will probably go with the Hotchkis progressive 1" drop. I think they might offer a good combo of ride and handling. I believe Strano sells them also.

hotchkis has a very good looking drop and is a great spring to boot. for budget i would say hotchkis w/ bilstein revalves. pretty much all springs are gonna be around the same price but bilstein revalves are about half the price of koni's and pretty much the only difference is adjustability which alot of people like the bilstein's as is and dont need to adjust them... http://www.stranoparts.com/large_item.php

I vote for Konis w/ strano springs as well. Im ordering the springs soon here...

So assuming that you want a progressive spring I would stay away from the Eibach Pro-Kit because they have a tendency to sag in the rear over time.
I would probably say Suspension Techniques Sporttech, Hotchkis, or DMS would be decent recommendations.
