Default WS6 Store Blanks and Hawk HPS pads not fitting

Alright guys, I am having trouble installing these. I have changed brakes on a lot of cars, including my Camaro before, but something isn't working right with these. I can't fit the rotor in between the two pads. The rotors are the same diameter as the stock ones, so I know that isn't the prbolem. I think it is with the pads. I have the pistons pushed all the way in, and the pad that rests up against the piston is fine, but the other pad on the opposite side of the piston is like it is too thick. Has anyone ran into this before? Maybe I got the wrong size pads? How do I go about fixing this? Get the rotors turned down to fit? Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Matt

Well if all else fails, I will send the pads back and run to Autozone and get stock replacement pads. I need the car finished for tomorrow.

Matt- If I were you, I would go to Autozone and ask for the Performance Friction brand pads. They are top notch and I use these and will put my name on them. High quality part. Plus- they have a lifetime warranty. If you needed a set- i could mail you an extra set I have here but you said you need it done tomorrow.

Seems like a dumb question, but you sure you got the right insides/outsides together. Like you dont have two inside pads and two outside pads together?

Maybe they aren't even different, I don't remember.

they are the right pads (inside vs outside)

I think the calipers might be seized

Did you check the sliding pins to make sure they move freely?

More than likely. Calipers arent cheap from the auto parts store. Try to find a car in the junkyard.

The sliding pin is a threaded insert on the caliper bracket. I did one side and then the other, and had a problem. Also, if you are turning the bolt and it never tightens it is just spinning the pin, you need to hold it using a 5/8(I think a 16mm will work but I didnt have one) wrench, it just has two flat sides. Easiest way to set it back in is to remove the caliper bracket bolts(18mm). Then just hammer it or press it in. I couldnt figure it out until a good hour.

Here is a pic after a hammered it in, about a half inch in. Becareful not to damage the threads.

you really shouldnt have to hammer the slide pin in, it should move freely. if it doesnt i would take it out and clean and lube it up until it does.
