Not sure what you are asking.

if you mean changing the TA bushing..

drop the trans crossmember. it will allow easier access to the bolts and nuts and also allow you to get the mount out easier (and in).

the trans tunnel is confining...so every little bit of room helps.

first time took me nearly 2hrs by myself on my back (just the install not the drilling of rivets). 2nd and 3rd times it took about 30min.

yeah the bushing... sorry forgot to be more specific...

so there are rivets to drill?

I was poking around and looking at my bushing and noticed that it seemed to be, well, not in such good shape... I assume lifting the front and holding the transmission with a jack is the best way to go about something like that...

should I consider doing the tranny mounts at the same time then?

There is only one tranny mount, it takes less than 10 minutes to change. Torque arm bushing is a little more of a pain if you do it in your driveway. I used a dremel to just buzz off the ends of the rivets holding the stock bushing piece in. If you do it smart you can have them both changed in an hour. I don't know if you have an A4, but I didn't like the vibes from the rear end with both bushing polyurethane so I switched back to a rubber trans mount.

if nothing else i would change the trans mount to a stocker...

i have poly motor, trans and TA bushings...only mild vibration from my car. its more of an audible thing...than somethign you feel.

but the trans mount is 7 bolts....4 holding crosmember to frame, 2 holding mount to trans tailshaft, and 1 big nut holding mount to crossmember.

what did you replace the rivets with? or do replacements come supplied with the bushing?

it doesn't have a lot of play in the transmission, but i figured i'd consider it since it seemed to be the easier of the two evils and would be easy enough to do if I were doing the rest.

ok so learn something new... rivets are stock only... good deal.

will be doing the install of both on thursday, assuming things come in on time
stupid holidays, i hate them.

also hoping to re-do my LCA/PHR bushings, and check anything else that may need attention under the car...

how much lube will i have to use on the mounts? I suppose generous... should I use a spray (superlube) or grease (again, superlube, i have both, heh)

I feel a lot of clunking when I get on and off throttle. I am also feeling some vibrations in the seat at higher speeds. I was considering changing motor, trans and TA mounts. Does that sound about right? Also, I do not want any extra noise/vibration so should I get all rubber mounts or just the TA? I have an A4 with 90K. Sorry to hijack!

right so that torque arm bushing kicked my ***, and I didn't actually get it replaced, I just didn't have a tool to remove the stock bushings very well while on my back... so I fought the **** out of the torque arm and the stock bushing to try to get it back together. What a pain.

trans mount was easy as hell in comparison...

for those who did the TA bushings, did you have the rear supported? because fighting it back down was somewhat of a pain (I let it go up gently though)
