Default help this noob. shocks and springs

I want to upgrade my car and I wanna start with shock and springs to make my ride softer and eliminate my pain in the *** every time I pass over a dumb hole. I don't know where to start since I am noob so a little help would be appreciate. any particular brands?. suspencion kits around? any particular website to look around for prices? this is my daily driver and I'm not planning to go all out and spend some big bucks. I want something between, not to cheap and expensive either but better than my factory setup. thanks boys

Talk to Sam Strano at stranoparts.com, hes a sponsor here.

He'll probably suggest to stay with stock springs(best for ride quality) and buy some Koni SAs. The rebound is adjustable allowing to control handling and ride comfort. The main problem really is the stock shocks, they suck.

Pretty much right on about the stock shocks being the issue, the stock springs giving the best ride, and that Koni's rock. Might not opt for Koni's in the end, we'd have to discuss some things before I could recommend anything.
