Default More un-sprung weight - UHG!

How much more weight will be added from the C5 brake conversion if you:

1. Use the f-body calipers and pads
2. Use 12.8 inch rotors (OEM)
3. Use a bracket that does not require spindle cutting ?

Is this extra weight bad for handling?

it'll be whatever the weight of the bracket is (half pound maybe?) plus whatever the difference between the bigger rotor and the stock rotor is.

Yes, bigger brakes usually means more unsprung weight.. for most people its worth the trade. especially if you're actually racing

The F-body rotors weigh 17 pounds (11.8 inches) and the C5 rotors (12.8 inches) weigh 27 pounds!!!!!!

That is 10 more pounds of unsprung weight - WOW that is a ton!

if you're that worried about it, get an aftermarket two piece rotor.. like a willwood alum hat and iron rotor.

but realistically... you wont notice the diff.

OK - I'll try a C5 rotor first and see if it adversely impacts the front suspension.

Considering the weight of the wheel and tire, I assumed that an additional 10 pounds is a bad thing.

If your not racing, most people just upgrade pads/fluid/lines of the stock ones. After driving the lt1 brakes for year, ls1 seem great lol.

I don't know where this info comes from but C5 rotors are not 27lbs. I've heard alot of people say that though.

My f-body rotors weighed 18lbs each and the stock c5 rotors I have weigh 21 lbs each.

I'm glad to hear that, but I can't see how the C5 rotors only weigh 3 pounds more, they're huge suckers! I got Powerslots, so maybe they weigh more than GM C5 rotors? I'll be installing the C5 brake kit this week.
