Default Lowering the car

Well after i get my wheels installed, i'm going to want to lower this beast. I'm just a bit confused, i've done quite a bit of reading but i'm not understanding one thing. Do you need to purchase new shocks and springs? Or just the springs? From what i've read, basically to get the car to sit lower you just need the springs, but using your stock shocks with the new springs isn't the best idea, you want to find a spring that works well with the shock. Am i understanding this correctly, or am i missing something? Just wanting to clarify. If i just needed new springs, heck i'd pay 200 bucks to lower my car an 1.5". I understand the shocks are much more a ding in the wallet.

in the great words of Strano, Shocks are spring dampners, you should not skimp out of shocks..rates on aftermarket springs are too stiff for a stock decarbon shock to take care of.

Koni's and Strano's are the best setup. Bilsteins and a pro kit is ok, but not the greatest.

the stock shocks barely control the stock spring, much less an aftermarket lowering spring. talk to sam strano, he's a mod on here and is usually floating around in the suspension forums somewhere.
