Default 6 pt rollbar...Subframes beneficial?

I have a 6 point rollbar...would it be beneficial or pointless to install subframes? Would they be complimentary, overkill, or detrimental?

def not detrimental, complimentary depends on who you talk to, as does overkill. how you use your car and what mods you have will help narrow it down.

It's 80% drag strip and 20% street car.

I just didnt want to add the additional weight if it was overkill/pointless.

Maybe I should've asked....how many actually have both?

I would probably say the majority of people who have cages/roll bars have/had subframes before/at the same time they installed the cage.

From a saftey point of view it would be very beneficial. At the end of the day really you are reinforcing the overall structure of the F-Body and that's a good thing. I plan on doing SubFramess and a Roll Cage on my 98 T/A.

i agree. some cars that have been wrecked would have been totalled if not for the sfc's preventing extensive subframe damage. this reason alone makes them worthwhile.

It's best to install the subframes first, then install the cage that way you can tie the cage into the subframes directly, not weld plates to the floor which is not as strong and requires the addition of the diagonal bars that run from the crossbar to the floor/subframes.

Yes the subframes will help strengthen the chassis more, make sure they tie into the front and rear subframes as well as the lower control arm mounts and if possible to the center of the car, simular to the umi 3 way sub connectors.
