Default modifying my struts

ok, while koni shocks are amazing, I dont have the money to spend on them, so I have been thinking of ways to lower the front ever so slightly as you would with the konis, i.e. lowering the spring perch on the strut. So as Im looking at the stock strut setup at work today, Ive come to the conclusion that with some simple measurements and some TLC, i can lower the spring perch on the stock strut by simply grooving a notch for it lower on the strut tube.

With a band saw and some stops to keep it from cutting too far into the tube, I dont see why this would not work. Essentially I am inviting feedback it hopes of finding a perspective I have not considered. Sam Strano, Id really like to hear from you, from what Ive seen in GM High Tech and here online, youre pretty much a suspension genius. Anyway, all feedback is welcome, and thanks in advance.

IMO you'd be better off just cutting off a little bit of the springs...
