Default centering rear end

After you put on an adjustable panhard bar can you center the rearend yourself or is it necessary to take to an alignment shop?

You can do it yourself simply with measuring tape.

assuming your car has never been wrecked in the rear, here's the easiest way to do it:

1) make sure you're on level ground
2) tie something heavy (like a heavy washer or something) to the end of a piece of string (do one for each side), then tape the string to the highest point of each rear wheel well on the outer lip.
3) measure from the outermost lip on the rim of your wheels on each side to the string.
4) adjust the bar one way or the other until these two measurements are as close as possible.

just make sure that when you do this, the rear end is not hanging down, make sure the rear suspension is loaded (i'd personally drive it up on rhino ramps to get equal height, and still have enough room to get under it to adjust the bar).

It is easy, and the ramps are not needed. Be sure and make the adjustments, drive the car, and measure again. You need to make sure that the suspension settles, and driving is the best way.
Best of luck, this is an easy and vital fix to our cars.

Just take a tape measure to the sidewall of the tire and see how far it is from the fender lip, just adjust it one way or another until both sides of the tire stick out or tuck in the same.
