Default Does my Bilstein suspension hurt launches?

A buddy of mine told me that my bilstein suspension, which comes stock on Firehawk's, would actually hurt launches??

I've been meaning to ask this for a month now and finally got around to it. I can launch my car just fine (at least fine for me, I don't launch above 2500). I don't know whether this is true or not but I do know that, in combination with my STB and SFC'S, my car feels reeeeeeally TIGHT.

Thanks guys!

I guess I should elaborate: would my Bilstein susp be better than any stock suspension F-body?

He said that stock would be better?

The stock suspension has less rebound damping than the Bilstien kit....I suspect that you would launch better with the stock DeCarbon shocks than the stiffer (handling package) Bilstien package. But, I'm not a drag racer meaning, somebody may prove me wrong). Just my thoughts.....

I had Bilsteins then switched to HAl 12- way adjustable and noticed a large improvement in weight transfer and 60' because they were too stiff.

With the bilsteins the front end was not getting enough lift, which is neccessary to help plant the rear tires.

.2 improvement in the 60' with the front struts set at 4

The stock stuff is softer allowing for better weight transfer than the Bilstein package which helps more with street driving.

Undo the front swaybar at the track with the Bilstein suspension to allow better weight transfer.

First off, I think Bilsteins would be better than the stock shocks (deCarbon) for any application. I have hearad that both the Koni's and the HALs are better on the strip. The Bilstein is better for Auto-X and the twisties.

Also, Firehawks do not necessarily come with Bilstein's. They come with the orange deCarbons just like every other f-body, unless you ordered the Bilsteins or Koni's (1LE)

Thanks for the info

All LS1 Firehawk's come with Bilstein's. The 1LE is an option on Firehawk's.

Bilstein's are an option on SLP SS's which come with stock stuff.

That is incorrect. The Bilstein suspension was an option on the Firehawks. Firehawks and SS's both came standard with the de Carbone shocks and GM factory springs. There were minor enhancements to the suspension on a base Firehawk & SS. The Bilstein was part of the optional Y2Y content for both vehicles.

Dang. I can't believe that I over-looked that :o
1099 for the Bilstein's (I gotta good deal on mine because of 2 LS1 purchases at the same time).

So what in the heck are the upgraded suspension parts on a stock Firehawk??

Weird.
