Default shock mount problem

well, i finally got back to getting my front shocks installed. other than some scraped springs (sorry sam, they looked great when i started) i got the new koni's and sam's springs installed today.

BUT, while tightening the last bolt on the driver side, the one under the master cylinder, the pressed in nut in the shock mount popped out.

SO, the question is, can i just use a regular hex nut in its place?
i have plenty of spares, because i just replaced the shock mounts due to them being corroded, and the new mounts came with new hardware.

I loosely fitted one of the old nuts in place to show you guys what i mean. and once its tightened, the flange on the nut fits up into the bore nicely.

so, please let me know should i just use a nut, or should i remove the whole shock mount and get a new one????

pic 1 - popped out shock mount nut
pic 2 - old nut loosely threaded on
pic 3 - old nut tightened into existing shock mount bore
pic 4 - pass side, showing proper shock mount install

thanks
tony

Use the nut you have. A washer might be a good addition.

I second, that should be fine. However I wouldn't use a washer, let the nut center in that recess like your pics.

Yes loctite is a good idea.

You could also try a lock washer.
