how do you remove the front wheel speed sensor?

You don't. Its built in to the sealed wheel bearing unit. New hub assemblies come with new sensors.

If they're anything like they were on my 01 Grand Prix, they are fairly easy to change, but stupidly expensive. I think Advance Auto sells some with a lifetime warranty, though.
