shave the bump stops off the mount and DON'T use the pre-load plate. It will be much closer to stock when modified but still keep the transmission locked in place.

Is the prothane mount a better design? I have the energy one and used the plate and did not shave the bumps and it sucks.

I may go with prothane...?

I found the prothane to rattle a bit more than the ES modded mount. With the ES you still have the option of using the pre-load plate.

Just grind the preload bumps flush with preload plate, reinstall and problem solved.

Mine was the same way when i installed mine years ago, so I ground down the preload bumps and reinstalled with the preload plate and I never had any problems since then.

Why do the preload bumps cause the vibration? I would think the extra squish from the poly bumps would absorb more, but clearly they do not.

FYI The preload bumps get compressed when the bolts that mount it to the trans mission are tightened up effectively making the poly mount even stiffer, by............preloading the trans mount.

I'd take the extra vibration over the "shifter moves x inches over" stock mount. It only shifts more as your engine mounts age and you start to make more power with mods. I get a wicked vibration thanks to my 112 LSA and slightly lumpy idle. No major chop, but still vibrates the stick enough for some of my friends to wonder if my car is running right... which I slam their heads back with a clutch dump and release to get them to nod their heads yes as the answer (which may cause whiplash, so do this only to good friends that won't sue lol)

They are actually working an a revised design right now. I am one of the test subjects.

Pm djalkyd, he is from energy suspention. I'm sure he would like to hear from you. You may even end up with some test parts from it. You can tell him I said to pm him.

FWIW, I installed a set of poly (Prothane) motor mounts, and running those virtually eliminated the vibrations I used to have because of the poly (ES) trans mount on its own!

I've heard others make this claim as well, but didn't believe it until I tried it. What I'm inclined to say is, run ALL poly, or ALL rubber. OR, just live with the vibrations from having just the poly trans mount?

Mine rattles like crazy I hate it. Will probably put the stocker back in until I get to poly motor mounts eventually.

I just took out my ES poly tranny mount, ground off the bumps, and put it back in WITHOUT the preload plate, as some have suggested. I then reset the pinion angle, as the preload plate raises the tranny by about 1/8", and went for a test ride. It does seem smoother, and more vibration free.

I also put my Lingenfelter aluminum driveshaft back in. I took it out, because the additional height of the preload plate raised the tail shaft of the tranny, possibly causing an interference problem with the driveshaft and the e-brake cable retainer, which is up in the driveshaft tunnel. (the LPE driveshaft is quite a bit larger in OD over the OE steel unit)

I will say that there's also a possibility that I had the pinion angle a little off, which also might have contributed to the clearance problem, but the quick test drive I took yesterday didn't include the one, big dip on the freeway, where this problem occured.

Glad to hear that. I first tried the poly trans mount before I did the engine mounts, it was unbearable. Put the stock one back in the next day. I hope your right cuz I had to do the poly engine mounts after doing the header install. Love them prothane engine mounts. I may try the poly trans mount again just to see.

I did the same thing a few years ago and ended up putting a 1LE trans mount in. I believe they no longer call them 1le, but they are the harder durometer rating rubber. Those poly mounts for the trans are horrible.
