Default Brembo disks + Hawks pads after 10'000 miles

Here how my Brembo disks + Hawks HPS pads look like after 10'000 miles.
This is my daily drive, I don't race nor abuse it somehow.

Is that normal?
Look at the grooves: they are at least 1 mm deep! (= 0.04")

Other cars have a nice flat surface...

Thank you for your opinions

Stefano

I just installed mine, and after bedding them, they look the exact same as yours other than the rust

Do you think the Brembo disks are extremely soft or the Hawks HPS extremely hard?
I never saw something like that using original GM parts.

What is really strange is the groove in the inner part of the disk: today I took the brakes apart thinking something was broken but everything was fine.

Any idea how this can happen?

Hawk HPS are a metallic compound, I saw practically the same results when I had my performance frictions and Power Slots. OEM brakes are a ceramic or organic pad.

I've got 15K on mine and they look the same. But they also still stop fantastic so I don't worry about it.

Rotors are wear items just like pads. When you run an aggressive pad like the Hawk HPS you will experience quicker rotor wear.

That's not too good for me.
Over here US car parts are 3-4 times more expensive than in the USA, so I import almost everything.
To import rotors is really expensive (for the Brembo I paid more for the shipping than for the parts). It's better I install a mild pad (gently to the rotors) and replace it from time to time. It's much cheaper than replace the rotors (only because of the shpping cost...).

By the way: Brembo is an Italian brand, but in Italy (200 miles from here) they don't produce the F-Body rotors!!! Mine came from Mexico.

The trade off is that the less aggressive pad will have a smaller coefficient of friction and thus you will need to press harder on the brakes to stop.

Ehh... I know!
The combo Brembo-Hawks works grate, but 99% of my driving is home to office, so no real need of something special.
Shipping of the Brembo's was like $50-70 per rotor!
Over her I only get OEM or WIX rotors.
The OEM are way too expensive, the set of WIX vibrate since day 1: thay are not warped, they warp as soon they get warm. That's why I went with Brembo (shipped USPS by a friend).
The WIX pads are not too bad: not really "performance" but good enough for me.
I'll soon install them instead of the Hawks. Not too special but I'll save the rotors

I've had Brembo for a few years now. Works great for me. I just got them resurfaced and put some new Hawk HPS on all 4 corners. No grooves as of yet.

Kinda of remember yes.

So no, no grooves on mine. My calipers were old and pistons and guide pins where giving me issues. I replaced everything except for the routers. Works well.
