Default All around good street pads?

I'm thinking of changing the pads on my 97, they put some high speed "hard as brick" pads on there when they installed some drilled rotors, i have a good pedal, but it doesn't stop that good around town, should i just install some med. metallic pads? Also, would a solid rotor be better too?

If you're not stopping well, you may need a different pad compound for your braking style. I cannot recall where the Hawk HPS's overall compound, but I've had the best overall experience with them.

A good pedal is more of a result of a brake system with all lines in tact, calipers in good condition, and good brake fluid with little air and moisture present. Solid rotors would be best because it offers the most complete usable friction surface available for the pads. All of the fancy "rotor face patterns" cost more and don't improve performance with most available pads.

What would be a good compound? These pads i have on here are old, that i'm sure is some of the problem, but they were rated for high speed, want something more practicle.

You could then try a ceramic.

Just stay away from "race pads" because they're really the ones that require higher operating temperatures only seen in extensive track durations.
