Default c5 brake conversion

I was wondering if this is really worth doing to my f-body.

If so what is all needed?

I have rotors picked out so what else do I need to buy?

Thank you for your input

what do you have. LS1 or LT1. its a huge improvement from an LT1, and a good improvement from an LS1. its really worth doing if you do any kind of racing. not just stab and steer drag racing.....the kind that you actually have to turn and stop. road, autox, etc. if its for the street, i wouldnt bother. LS1s have excellent brakes as is. for better street stops, get some good pads and blank rotors. hawk HPS and brembo blanks are all you need.

if you really want to do the swap, you can either buy a complete kit from a place like UMI or WS6store, or you can piece it together with GM over the counter parts. youll need calipers, rotors, pads, caliper hardware, mounting brakets, the conversion brackets, and probably some other odds and ends. plus youll have to cut your spindle. more for the LT1, less for the LS1.

heres a breakdown of the parts needed from FRRAX:

We have the complete kit available here for $732.99:

I'm sure we can work something out if you dont want the rotors...

This conversion is SO worth doing. I have that exact setup. I couldn't be happier, a snap to install too.

Great deal BTW!

I got a great deal on some C5 brakes front and rear (take offs) from EPP. I used the front Calipers, Caliper Brackets,UMI conversion bracket, Powerstop C5 rotors from another company I cannot mention along with Hawk pads and C5 braided lines. It cost me under $500 for all of it. I couldn't be happier with the difference it made...well worth it IMO.
If you don't mind cutting your spindles...the UMI conversion brackets are a very nice piece..and it is easy to do.

I would not do this on an LS1, its not enough of an improvement. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again on an LT1.

Excuse the dirtyness.

Sorry, brother - gotta disagree. I had LS1 brakes and went to C5 brakes, just the rotors using LG's brackets - well worth the upgrade. No more pulsing and fills the wheels. My combo probably stops harder than the C5 calipers but shifts bias to the front more (nose dive) and reveals even more uneven pad wear as these cars are known for. Next round, I'll go with the C5 calipers for longer pad life/more caliper strength.

Bottom line - it is a noticeable upgrade and well worth the money. It was confidence inspiring on my recent road trip through the Texas Hill Country. Bilsteins, Strano bars, and C5 brakes made this car AWESOME and still fairly comfy for a plastic hotrod on ancient architecture.

The C5 calipers are a direct bolt on for an LS1 F-body??

How much better are they compared to the F-body calipers??

I'd do it, I did it, on a street driven car.

Who here has two almost identical LS1 F-Bodies, one with the kit, and one without?
I can drive one for a few weeks and then hop in the other one and feel the difference right away.
I got the deal from WS6store, the UMI kit.

I did it to my Convertible . . . I like the added braking but I honestly did it to fill the 18" wheels . . .

Do not do vette calipers without the rotors, you will lose some braking force.

That's okay, glad you're happy with it
