Would 11 5/8" compressed and 17" extended work on the f body's?

front or rear? That will work for rear I know for sure. You just need to watch your travel. If I remember right (on the rear) around 10" and you're on the bumpstops.

My car is not a daily driver. It's just driven for weekend cruising and driving to the strip.

You should be fine then. I think the ones on my third gen are 10-14"...give or take a 1/2".

Is 250lbs a good spring rate for drag racing?

For the rear it would be to stiff.....I would stay around 150-170# spring rates. Let me know if you might have any other questions.

This is mainly for drag racing, I'll just be driving to the track and cruising every now and then.

if you have the money talk to the guys at burkhart chassis or madman and get setup with a set of afcos.

I would agree they are the best but for the money the Strange units are very hard to beat IMO......
