Default spherical/roller bearing shock bushings

has any company came out with this yet? just like we have spherical panhard bar ends we can have this instead of the pressed in bushings on the shocks especially the front shocks, or a roller bearing may work just as well or even better to keep it balanced. i dont see why this has not been used by some of the companys for the shocks.

here is a pic to show what im exactly talkin bout

you can see the rubber bushings at the ends where they connect

Thumbs up

You'll find them on a lot of race shocks.

Koni's have rubber around the lower mounts also!
Unless you get a custom valved race shock, your not going to find bearing type mounts available, you can get them with some drag racing shocks though.

^^ if there was a way i can get the koni's or something with those roller bearings it would be a very big improvment over the rubber

^^ not really, some other after market companies do this with the spring perches they sell for my brothers car so i thought it would be a good idea to have it on the F body suspension

why would the ride quality go to crap? the shocks' pistons are going to give way looooong before the spherical ends would, so there shouldn't be a decrease in ride quality.

Well the way the shock mounts right now, the rubber does dampen things a little bit. The rubber always takes some of the "hit" before the piston acts.

I never even thought of this subject before. I don't think I've noticed much issue with the rubber mounts in the past on any message boards. Rod end bushings can wear slightly over time, as well as them being the more harsh/noise transmitting bushing type over rubber. I guess maybe since there's no performance drawback with rubber and they hold up, that they'd be more preferable over the stiffer rod ends. Not to mention rod ends would be more expensive.

This was a complete guess though... just kinda whipped that up out of nowhere. It might have no merit... but hopefully I'm close
