Excursion or Tahoe
Looking for a family vehicle and I'm trying to decide between a 01 up Tahoe or a 2000 up Excursion...
I'm looking to pay somewhere in the 10k range, I don't want to finance.
Looking for some opinions, I will get the Diesel if I go with the Excursion.

Don't they only make the Excursion in diesel?
This should be a no brainer. They basically had to start giving away the Excursion's cause no one was buying them. Too big, too much money, Drinks gas like no other.
Get a tahoe, much nicer.

Those two are really not in the same class. The Excursion is bigger than a Suburban and much bigger than a Tahoe. Are you sure you don't want an Expedition? They are closer to the Tahoe in size. IMO, the Chevy is nicer inside. I have three friends with 2003 and up Expeditions. All of them are rattle traps. They get you there but they have lots of minor issues. Production of the Excursion stopped in 2006.

I like the Tahoe also, I think they look bad *** with some 20" wheels.
I know the Excursion is a lot bigger than the Tahoe, I think the Expeditions are ugly as ****. The only reason I was thinking about the Excursion was because the wife said we have 3 close friends with Tahoe's so she did not want the same as them. LOL
If the Excursion is a rattle trap then screw that, I will go with the tahoe

i would get a brand new tahoe if they can finance it for 6 yrs no interest, otherwise the excursion is the way to go, especially diesel and 4x4. but try to get the nice ones (i think limited or eddie bauer) because they have leather etc. i test drove a base excursion with a plastic floor and bench seats like a bus and it was no fun.

I've had a couple of diesel Excursions for a little while in the past couple of years and they weren't too bad. Both had 100K+ miles on them. I was really surprised by the fact how the ride changed on the other one after adding a 4" lift and 35" tires. It was much nicer that way. New shocks, steering stabilizer etc. contributed to that, too.
Excursions are quite different, though.
