New NA LS Pump Gas Record?

New NA LS Pump Gas Record?
We finally got the track to cooperate with us and managed to make a few clean 1/4 mile passes in the Grocery Getter before the track started going away. The air was much better later in the night, but the track was junk by that time. We didn't get to run the radial slicks, but the Hoosier bias slicks netted us a 9.39@141 with a 1.29 60ft. Sheila also had a few passes that would have easily been 9.35-9.36 if it would have stuck at the hit. She ran one 9.43 with a 1.38 60ft also. The car definitely has more in it.
I'm not sure what the LS NA Pump Gas record is, but that 9.39 should have it cover it pretty easy. It was a great night of racing with a lot of LS1Tech members out beating down the 1320.
A special thanks goes out to Erik Koenig for building such a bad *** engine and allowing us to not have to spend $8.00-$10.00 a gallon for race fuel. I'd also like to thank Greg Good for tweaking the TFS cylinder heads and getting the valve train right, the gang over at Circle D for building a very solid transmission and efficient converter, MadMan for helping us get the power to the ground and keeping the car out of the the wall.lol. and the crew at LMR for getting the engine installed quick, tuned and track ready.

If someone would have told me they ran mid-low 9s on pump gas a year ago, I probably would have called BS too.lol. We didn't really expect the car to run quite as quick as it does, but our iron block 408 we had went quicker than we built it for also. It's the real deal no doubt. I did have a guy come over and ask to smell my gas jug that I had used to put gas in. He didn't believe it either, but he does now
If the track looks like it'll cooperate, we are going to try the radial slicks and shoot for a high 9.2.
I have some videos of the low 9.40 passes, but the time board is still out due to hurricane Ike. I am hoping someone got the 9.39 pass. It stood up and carried the tires a ways. It was a real clean pass.

Glad to see the Grocery Getter moving on out faster and faster! Now that I am well I hope I can be out there the next time you and Sheila go down the track as the track gets better and better again. If you guys run 9.20s I'll take you guys out wherever you want! I wouldn't have thought a true pump gas hydraulic roller machine would go quite this fast either even last year but technology and parts keep improving. I am also still eternally grateful for Greg Good basically modifying / making me the retainers and modifying the Super 7 locks to use these springs I have on that thing. It's all the little things that really have to happen to make the big things a reality.
