Default Repeal of Front License Plate Law

SB561 Repeal of front license plate law in Texas

Here we go again. SB 561 has just been filed for the Texas Legislative Session 81 to repeal the requirement for a front license plate in the state of Texas.

The bill is being sponsored by Mike Jackson, R-Pasadena. Let's see it this one does not get attached to some other dog of a bill and get dropped like the last two times.

Email your state rep and show your support.

All that means is if your issued one plate, thats it thats all u get. Unless Im reading this wrong. It doesnt mean we have to have 2 plates it just says, you must have one for the rear of the vehicle.

Go here find your representative by your zip code and send them an email. Let them know what you think if you want them to vote the way you want.

<sigh>

How many times do we all have to go through this.

If you send an e-mail, some aide will get them all and tell the rep that "Hey, you got 100 e-mail wanting you to vote for SB561. Oh, and you laundry is ready to be picked up."

However, if you TAKE THE TIME AND EFFORT to actually hand write a letter and mail it to your rep, you know, using an envelope and stamp, when he sees 100 letters all stacked on his desk, THAT makes an impact.

If you want to make a statement and affect change, put a little effort into it.

i coudlnt disagree more. I've written emails to my politicians on several occasions and have received responses at least half the time. the responses are typically in snail mail. and they arent just 'thank you for your comments' types of letters.

perhaps its the way you write your letters is what determines how likely you are to get a response.

The law for the front license plate not being required has already been passed in Texas, wont go into effect until about October 2009 I believe.

Also as stated above if you read it, it is only stating that if you were issued 1 plate, you only have to have one plate in the rear but if you were issued 2 you must have both, from what I understand when the new law passes, they will only be issuing 1 plate but those who havent gotten new plates yet and were issued 2 must have both.

You miss the point ... to get a politician to take notice he first HAS to notice.

Wading through a pile of envelopes vs click, click, click, delete has a LOT more impact.
