Not an obama bash, but it sucks that if this goes through.. many of us will have big problems.
States can already do this to my knowledge, only difference now the spotlights are on the states

I don't think there was anything mentioned in the article that it would be illegal to own a modded car.
People have found ways to get around the current regulations so I don't see any reason why people wouldn't continue doing that in the future, no matter whether the initiative goes through or not.

I heard about this and I think it's a real shame that the president is going to allow states to dictate EPA standards. The Federal government (EPA) has a list of all the dangerous and toxic gases in the atmosphere and CO2 isn't one of them because it occurs naturally in the atmosphere. This will effectively make the EPA useless. Currently there is a waiver in effect that allows certain "acute" areas to dictate a CAFE standard, but we are talking about counties with documented issues due to geography, like being next to a mountain so the gases can't escape and become concentrated and dangerous. A whole freaking state is not an "acute" area. There are about 13 states IIRC that will follow suite if California is able to increase the CAFE standards on automakers and it will pull automakers down when they are at their most vulnerable.

this is crap. car emissions only make up about 18% of the Us's Co2 polution. even if we reduce it to zero we have 80% coming from else where. i hate the freakin' media and their stupiditity. they always slant crap and now our government has started to believe them. ugh. fix the powerplants first!

Don't think they want to start handing out conversion kits to make our cars more eco safe..cause none of us would buy the fkers.. pretty sure it just applies to the new cars comming out for that year and after

Did you delete any emissions equipment? Are your cats in the stock location aka do you have headers? Running a cam with much overlap?

Depends on the grind. People in Nazifornia are getting by with grinds up to 224/224 on a 114 LSA. They can't legally run mid or LT headers and a bunch of other stupid ****.
I'd be screwed with my stroker.

Obama cracks me up. The last car he owned was a gas guzzling Hemi 300c, 13/15 hwy/cty. He got hammered with bad media and went out and bought a Hybrid Escape...He is such a hypocrite http://www.obamas300c.com/
He, his campaign, and his presidency is nothing but a dog and pony show. Some are drawn to that type of spectacle, but when the show leaves, there's nothing but **** to pick up...
