Default Has anyone seen 315s mounted on a 17-9.5 rim

I have heard diff feedback. I am looking for some 17-11 Grandsport rims for the back. But have had no luck finding any.

So in the mean time I have to run my 315s on this little 17-9.5 rim. Does anyone have any pics or can give a idea of how its going to look. Just nervous about it.

I couldn't really recommend doing that, but some people say you can fit 315's on an 8.5" wheel, so I don't really know...

You can fit a 315 Nitto DR on that wheel. The mustang guys do it all the time. that’s b/c nitto’s run small. Which is why I made a thread wanting to trade my 315 nitto DR’s for BFG nitto DR’s. i used to have pics of them side by side, (on my old PC somewhere) and I you can see that the BFG 315’s were over an inch wider than the nitto’s.

i can't speak of this personally. like i said, i've seen mustang guys do it. and lots of them on the SVT board do run 315 nitto DR's on their wheels.

does it look goofy? not so much. there's a little bulge, but nothing nasty.

up to you brotha'.

My buddy (matt510) ran 315's on his 9.5 rim on his 04 Cobra, I didnt think it looked goofy. Also he had no problems with safety as he ran them down until they were bald.

dont do it... i had 315/35/17 mickey thompson drag radials on my 17X9.5 torque thrust wheel and they fit too loose, it eventually came of the wheel on the highway and the tire shredded, only one side. so now i have 2 tt2's with 275/40s and 1 mounted on a 315 drag radial that i wont use,

apples to oranges. he's asking about Nitto 315 DR's not MT.

are MT wide like the BFG's or are they narrow like the Nitto's??

like previously mentioned. lots of Mustang guys put Nitto DR's on their 9.5 wheels....

The Nitto 315 DR's run on the small side... infact, Nittos 305/35/18 is considerably wider! The 305 looks about the same as BFG's 315/35/17, as far as width. If you are looking to put the Nitto 315 DR's on, then will be no problem for your wheel. As for some of the other wider tires, they will fit on the 9.5" wheel but like said will have the bowed in look. I havent heard of having any saftey issues with doing that, only the fact that it doesnt look right and wont perform as well in straight line traction...

On a final note, I work at Discount Tire and and have many times mounted the 315 nitto on 17x9.5 wheels, no problems, and looks good. I just recently mounted up a set on my buddys TA with 9.5" TT2's

TINKRD: I havent compared the MT's yet, but i may be stoppin by Competition Sales here soon and will compare them to the BFG's(dont think they keep the nitto in stock)
