Default reccomend a place to fix my Jeeps AC in Houston(katy)

Just looking for recomendations on a shop (in the katy area would be best) that can work on the AC in my 2002 jeep grand cheroke.

I believe an elelectrical or mechanical switch has gone out. the ac blows nice and cold but its stuck blowing on the front defrost vents.

I may have the shop do a few other small things on the jeep also

Usually that is a vacuum leak. Check on the driver side right where the brake lines are at. You will see a vac hose that has popped off of the intake. You may need to cut a bit off so that it will stay on and not pop of again. Or, there is a vacuum line on the passenger side running along the top of the firewall and then down, there is also what looks like a ground strap from the firewall to the engine right above the valve cover. Sometimes this ground strap would touch the vacuum line and obviously this ground strap will get hot because it's attached to the engine. The ground strap might have melted the vacuum line there also. Check both places and fix the vacuum line if needed.

It will save you a lot of money doing it yourself. A/c repairs are never cheap. And if you bring in a car with a simple fix, most places will just take advantage of you

sometimes battery acid actually gets to the line down on the cruise control servo also. but check the vacuum line before taking it to a shop.

Thanks for the info. I will check these out tonight

The car also has a coolant leak that I am now wondering if it could be related to the ac issue.

coolant leak could be a bunch of things. If you provide more info about it, we could help diagnose it better.

check here too:

says you might not have cruise control either if it is a vacuum line.
