Default Possibly a new project

Well I am graduating highschool in january and with graduation comes a present. My dads friend has a Camaro my dad is going to most likely get me.

The car:
2001 Camaro Z28
Automatic
Convertible
Sunset Orange Metallic

It has a hole in the block.

I am trying to figure out what my plans are for the motor. How hard is it to fix a hole in the block?

I have a 6.0L i could throw in it. I have it left over from a project that i never finished. It has a trex cam in it. I also have the 4l80 trans with it.

Or

Fix the original motor and build it up and sell the 6.0L and have cash to finish the rest of the car.

All i want is a 400HP to 500HP weekend car. This will not be a track car.

The car will get lowered with TT2's and a roll bar. Then most likely a harwood cowl hood and LT1 SS spoiler.

Someone could chime in and correct me, but I believe that if the block has a hole in it, it is non-repairable.

If its in the cylinder wall it can be resleeved, but can cost several hundred bucks. If it threw a rod and put a hole in the side of the block then its a good boat anchor. If you have a 6 liter laying around I would throw that in and continue on. If you want to stroke the 6 liter to a 408. Its a very common setup. Do some reading in the internal engine section. Good luck, Josh

i wish my parents bought my car lol

i say build up the 6.0 and bore it to 408. you will be happier with that as soon as you get the car rollin again.

I'd go with the 408.

Also this is way off topic but I have a silver Silverado and have been shopping black wheels. Is that your truck in the signature? If so what wheels do you have??

Well I don't have the extra money to have the 6.0L built. But I have already paid for a motor install so I can have it installed as it is. The motor has an ls6 intake trex cam and new valve srpings. I would also run long tubes. I would have the 4l80 trans built with a 3200 stall.

The goal is a badass weekend car. Im not going for somthing like my old car so a 3200 will get the job done. I had that 3800TCI in my old car and it shifted so hard. I would rather not have that.

I should be picking up the car in the next couple of days. Will probably be the first of the week because I am going out of town. When I get it home I am going to pull the stock motor and trans and take off the front and rear bumper to prep for a repaint. Then the car is off to the shop to have the 6.0L installed. The 4l80 is getting a 3200 stall. I should have some ls1 motor parts for sale in the next week or two. I will let everyone know.
