Moving to Houston Jan 2010
Whats up. Just wanted to post here about my move to texas as i have some questions. I already asked on thirdgen.org about the emissions stuff but I'll ask here too since I'm thinking of picking up an LS1 car for a driver
I got some guys saying they can get me passed just fine but i just wanted to get more opinions.
From my research certain texas counties require emissions testing both a visual as part of a safety inspection and an actual emisisons test. My car is not legal that way anymore since i have no emissions components as being from Pittsburgh area PA, we have a law that states under 5K miles driven a year the vehicle is exempt from emissions testing both visual and actual testing.
How does it work for you guys down here? How strict are places? I am working in the west side of Houston area, what looks to be about 15 minutes from Katy Texas due straight east.
I guess that whole area is required to do testing?
For what its worth, my car is a 89 camaro Irocz and now has a 401 small block with twin turbos (sig was last year) that do poke out from the sides of the cowl hood. So you can tell this thing aint legal and that concerns me. If i cant take it with me i'll be abit depressed haha.

Just drive the car to a smaller town around Houston. Usually in Small towns all they do is kick the tires and slap the sticker on!!! I have a ten sec 2000 Z

5K miles a year or less in PA and your exempt from emissions so they just look at your typical brakes/tires/etc. My car passed on ET Streets with the bare minimum of 3/32 of tread. I was impressed. I'm gonna miss that law
