Default Oil pan gasket change?

Does anyone know if you can change the oil pan asket without taking the motor out. Can you drop the pan as it sits and have enough room to get the old gaset out and get a new one in.

Thanks brian

You have to loosen up the k member a bit to be able to get enough room.

if you don't have aftermarket rod bolts you might as well do those while you're there

you need to lower it down all the way with a few threads in. then get a strap on the crank, with the motor mount bolts off, and crank it. i did my pan 3 times for diff reasons alreafy

Did mine recently on the lift. Support the motor and drop the K member, you dont have to remove the K member but you have to pull the motor mount bolts, i unbolted the motor mount pedastals from the k member, pull the steering shaft from the steering rack, unscrew the steering lines from the rack and remove the shock bolts to a-arms. then drop the k member down, but watch it the brake line that comes down the driver side and across to the passenger wheel will get pulled/stretched so be easy with it, I went ahead and pulled the steering rack bolts and pulled it forward to ease the pull on the brake line since the line runs under the rack, that gives you some more room, you want as much room as you can get. i put a jackstand under the tranny and crank pulley to support the engine evenly as I could tell a difference when I had just one jack under just either the tranny or pulley the bolts for the pan didnt want to line up perfectly centered.

Its easy, I'm pretty free this weekend if you want to get it done... it should not take very long to do.
