i have Kooks LT's, and i use the longer truck filter. no problems here.

the filter wrench i use is similar to this one: the handle can angle so you can manuever a little better.

your other option is to use K&N filters, which have a nut on the bottom so you can use a regular wrench/socket on it.

I have the cap mentioned in post 2, and a metal filter wrench for when it's being stubborn. You're right, there is hardly any clearance but with a little patience and the proper tools you'll get it. You could also start buying the K&N filters, they have a nut welded on the bottom so you can use a regular wrench to loosen it.

i have something similar to the cap it tightens onto the bottom and you just use a socket wrench and twist it off it costs $12 but it should be worth it for all the other cars we have i just bought it better work or else craftsman dies.

i just stick my hand under there and undo it, there is no reason why it should be tightened down to the point that you need any tools besides your hand to get it off

+1

If you need a little help, you can get one of those rubber "mats" they make for opening jars or whatever. They're just flat, thin, round pieces of rubber. If you do a google search for "rubber jar opener" you'll see what I'm talking about.

The Batman thing? That thing works great if you have a stubborn filter.

Go do some arm curls, then come back with a filter wrench and go at it.

It's something you get used to if you've worked in the business. But we still get some that are on there like a biatch, just takes some elbow grease!!!
