Default I got a no front plate and a tint ticket about a week ago...dismissable?

To make a long story short, a state trooper pulled me over and gave me a ticket for no front plate and a ticket for my tint being too dark.

I have a front plate, but its in my dash. I know I can get it fixed by putting the plate in its designated spot, and taking a pic. But my license plate cover is drilled in a weird way, and I really dont want to take it off. I've read the law, and alot of police officers have told me that a plate in the dash is legal bc the law just says it has to be visible from the front and the rear.

Also, my tint is 5%. I called the court and asked if I made the tint legal, if the ticket could be dismissed. But they said I'd have to talk to the judge about it. Do must courts offer a "fix it" type ticket for tint?

Any related experiences is appreciated.

Patrick.

I think thats a pretty sketchy place to put it, its hard to see. So Im sure cops would mess with me there too. Also, my plate is personalized, and would prefer to not scrape it up constantly

Well I got a no front license plate ticket about 7-8 months ago. And have never been hassled for the plate being in my dash. He asked if I've ever got a warning for no front plate. And I told him ya. But I should have pointed out, that I never got a warning for it while it was on my dash .

the plate has to be at the furthest front part of the car. If its on the dash it is not legal.

I think the law just says "At the front of the vehicle," and doesn't go on to specify "the front."

Sanmarcos sucks when it comes to police. I got pulled over for the same thing about a month ago and just got a warning. It was also a state trooper in SM and he was sure to check the tint to (windows were down). Then just a few days ago another trooper pulled me over around Yarrington on I35 for doing about 72 (in a 70). He asked about the front plate like the other guy but I just said it didn't come with a mount and it passed inspection so I didnt think it needed one. He also just gave me a warning. Both were interested in my car though, maybe that helped.

You should just mount it temporarily with an Auto zone kit or something and go up to the court house with it on to show them and it should get dismissed.

from experience both are as follows:

plate- furthest front location of car, cannot be in windshield, behind billet grille, or in air dam. it is dismissable if you show up to the court with it mounted correctly.
tint- has to be replaced to legal %, is it still 20 or did it get changed to 30-35? also dismissable if it's legal % when you attend court.

i had to deal with both the same day, the court lady behind the desk and a constable walked outside, looked at both offenses on my car. they saw both were changed and legal now and dismissed both tickets with no fees/court costs at all. this was in frisco btw, a few years back.

Put the plate up on the pillar if they can see you they can see the plate. When I used to have it on my dash and I would get pulled over all the time and when I moved to the pillar they haven't messed with me. Or any of my buddys that moved it up to the pillar, and the tint just remove it and pay like 10 bucks. That's what I had to do them I got it tinted to 20% and I haven't been messed with since. DPS don't mess around city cops really don't care well were i'm from.

Thats the actual law. Front and rear of the vehicle. Doesnt say it needs to be on the front or rear bumper, just the front and rear. Ive seen PLENTY of trucks that have it in the rear window. I bet they dont get hassled for it.

when i first got my car for the first 6 months i didnt have a plate i never got fucked with. i was worried about getting a ticket so i put it on the dash, then after that i got pulled over. took it off after that and have not got messed with since then. guess it just depends on where you live.

i say just take it up there in the right spot and get the license plate dismissed.

It doesn't matter what it does or does not say, it matters how it is interpreted by the officer and the court.

Every now and then, they look at altering that law and allowing no front plate, but it always seems to get shot down. I guess the tickets are a good source of revenue.

Exactly. I meant to put that but left it out.

Front plate laws are so stupid. It costs so much money to produce that second plate that states with budget problems should seriously look at getting rid of it. Ive lived in three states since I joined the Army and all were no front plate states. Its very awesome to not have to worry about that.

So mount your front plate...take a pic of it and either take the tint off OR go back to the place that you got the tint done...get them to give you a reciept for changing the tint to a lighter color and there ya go...dismissed and all you have to do is pay the court costs.

You must take a picture of your window tint on your car and give them the photo to get it dismissed and pay $10 court fee.
I got a tint ticket in my truck a while ago.
I just found a truck that looked like mine and took a picture of it and gave it to them. It worked for me..
