Default Tune worth it at this point?

In a few week's ill be going up to SA to get some new drag radials mounted up. one of my cats went bad, so my check engine light is on. Would going to a performance shop and just having the rear 02s deleted be worth it?? Anyone have an idea as to what would that cost me?? would it not be worth it?

How do you know that one of your cats went bad?

because when i had the front end slammed, i hit a pothole, hard. during the next few weeks the exhaust sounded like a rattle can. im assuming the noise was caused by small pieces of the catalyst honeycomb material.

Well if you haven't taken the exhaust apart to find out, you really wont know for sure. If it DID break up the (ceramic?) internals of the cat, it could be clogging/partially clogging your exhaust.

That said, assuming your exhaust is flowing fine I would get a scanner to find out what code its throwing before tuning. Your mods really dont support a tune at this point and while you may gain some HP - its really better to wait if you have more plans in store.

HTH...

It won't hurt to have the rear O2's turned off. If you want to do it and can find a shop to charge you only for that and not for a full tune, go for it. I'd imagine it would be under $50 to do that but that's just a guess.

yeah thats what i was thinking. with the cutout the small chunks of the catalyst probably just got blown out.
