Default 73 Camaro Project

After searching and searching I finally found the right car. I picked it up today for $2500 and drug it home. It doesn't have very much rust at first glance but I still need to check it over a little better, I think I felt some on the left quarter.

It has a 454 and it should start up with some fresh gas. I don't think the shifter linkage is hooked up or that the brakes work. I might just get away with bleeding them.

On the list now is getting it running, bleed the brakes and get it on the road. I can't wait to be cruising around in this thing. Can't decide on a color but it comes down between black, blue and white. I think a flat white with black rims and a chrome lip would be killer. It will also be converted to a split bumper.

Goal for now, get it running Monday.

This is gonna be another one of this 17 year old kid on a budget cars.

If it turns out anything like your others, it will be very nice.

Wife got a 71 that we had to go to Oklahoma to get. Was supposed to be a better car than we were told. Sucked to have to drive 40 miles east of OK City in the snow and it be a POS, but we got it to run 10.80's. Had to replace EVERYTHING (2 motors, a tranny, rearend, wiring, fuel systen, back glass, fiberglass front end)and still havn't got the body work done yet.

i dont think i'd trust brakes that havent been used in god knows how long. i understand youre excited to be drivin this thing but its gonna take alot of work to get this thing driving well. heck i know a guy that has spent over 15 grand on his 67 dart gt and he hasnt even started it up yet. from reading your sig it looks like youve done this before tho, so im not gonna lecture you but im just sayin, not only for your safety but also for the cars sake, take it slow and do it right. this car is very nice and definately deserves it

Some pics from today, the paint makes the car look a lot worse than it is. I can't wait until Monday when I can start on it. It's got 3/4 tank of gas so it's gonna be a bitch to drop the tank.

I found a bad spot on the left quarter but it wouldn't take any time at all to fix.

From the pics the trunk pan looks questionable, did you look at the shock towers real good? Lotta work but could be a gem of a prostreet car.

Craigslist, every now and then something like this will pop up. I got really lucky since he said he had 11 people call the first day and a few called when we were there. I looked at it I think the second day it was up. Don't be afraid to look at a car without seeing pictures, I had no clue what this thing looked like when I went to see it and it was the cleanest car I have ever looked at, it was kinda funny actually.

The trunk pan is fine, it looks like the rust started to get to it and he painted over it. A couple minutes of sanding and some Spatter paint will make it look brand new.

Me too lol. I just cant decide what I want to do, with the Trans Am it was like "oh hey, black with snowflakes!" With this car I can do whatever I want. I just wish it was Monday already so I could work on it. Hopefully I can get everything working this week, then all I will need is it get plates and inspection.

Right now it needs brakes bled, shifter linkage hooked up and fluids changed.

Nice find.

Let me know if you are interested in a possible swap with a '70 Chevelle.

PM some pics and details..

I got the car running today, it sounded great and ran strong for the few seconds it was going. I thought there was gas in the tank so I disconnected it and just dumped gas down the carb. Since there was no gas in the tank, I am going to get an inline filter, hook the tank back up and run it like that just to get it going. I stripped one of the bolts for the gas tank so I couldn't drop it out. I will drop the tank before I really start driving it though.

The wiring harness is a mess so that will be fun. None of the lights work right now but it's probably something simple.
