Default Almost done with my new Fab/work table, PICS

Built myself a fab table, wanted something i could use but would fit in my one car garage with my car, tools, and etc.

Half inch thick plate top, 2 feet by 2 feet. trying to keep it lightweight enough to move around without hurting myself lol

made a little post on the bottom side of the table top to clamp the ground too, keep the clamp and wire hanging out of my way

tools needed to build table

Im going to add some square tubing to both legs on one end, perpendicular to the floor, and mount some wheels to them. will do this in such a way that if i pick up the opposing end of the table then ill be able to roll it around. also going to add a tray in the bottom.

without the cost of any tools, just materials and a few saw blades, im into the table for about 200 dollars. ive also got an extra 2'x2' square plate, the table top was 2' x 4' when i bought it so i cut in half with my cicular saw and a $1.20 cent bi-metal cutting blade

$1200? I assume you meant $120. Its a cool table that will be very versatile. My dad has one that is 5/16" plate and is like 8' long by 4' deep with caster on the bottom. We use it for everything from fabbing, to eating crawfish off of to whatever. For the tight space yours is good.

I don't understand the sloped legs. Steel tables are heavy enough not to worry about falling over, those legs seem like they'd just get in the way when you work around it.

Believe it or not Tony but its not that heavy, maybe 150lbs, clamping stuff to it and useing a Sawzall will still move the table around on the floor. mainly its because ill be using the table for a base for a vise and what not, so ill be pushing and pulling on things mounted to the table. another reason for the slope is so i can stand on the legs while pushing/pulling/prying to hold it still. im sure ill trip on them at some point though

I hope i know what im doing anyway lol, that machine can run 110 or 220. this whole table was built on 110v. it can run flux cored too but i hate it, it runs pure co2 on an internal regulator, i can get the 24oz tanks filled 7 days a week at academy for just a few bucks and that amount of gas will last a while. 12 dollars worth filled the 3 tanks, and i used 1.75 to build the table, never touched the 3rd tank. thats a miller passport 180

I built a work surface/fab table as well.

The base is a 24" plow disc, I section of 3" pipe, a section of 2 1/2 pipe that slides into the 3" piece, a locking bolt to make it adjustable height and a piece of 5/16" plate 6" wide and 18" long welded to the end of 2 1/2 pipe.

Anything you need cut (X and Y cuts only, no Z), up to 5-6inches thick, I can do it. Only catch is you need to drive to Austin haha

u should have bolted up some heavy caster wheels to the feet. it's def small enough to wheel around your garage.

im going to give it wheels but not in the sense your thinking. Im going to weld square tubing to two of the legs on one end at a 90 degree angle to the floor. then put the wheels on bottom of that, when the table sits flat on the floor the wheels will be hanging in the air, but if you pick up the other end of the table the wheels take the weight, sort of like a wheel barrow.

as tony mentioned, well see how it works out, if i cant stop kicking the crap outta the wheels then theyll have to go lol

jt093, i sanded down the edges with a flapper wheel, the corners are plenty rounded but still look square
