Default Dont know wht to do..

well where do i begin? well last friday driving home from work and engine light popped up and then diseappered. so i researched it and ended up being a misfire so i changed the plugs and car ran pretty good. btw im talking bout my 2005 3.6l cts. then noticed on wednesday light popped up again so i decided to go to autozone and get it scanned wrote down the codes and searched them and turned out it was misfiring on cylinder 2,4,6. So thats one whole bank well decided im gonna buy the ac delco plugs and reinstalled them i did and well car runs fine now but once i hit a lil higher rpms i can hear this rattling coming from under the car, kinda sounds like my cataylic converter going out but what is strange is still no code has come up. so wht do u guys suggest? the other forum im a member of- cadillacforums.com/forums/ members there say go to the dealer but i know im gonna get my eyes pooked.. anyone in the san antonio familiar with cadillacs? any info will help..

Might be the cat. Get under it and hit it with a rubber mallet, if it rattles then thats the problem. Its a place to start.

If you can swap coil packs from bank to bank try that and see if the faults move, if so its something in the coils. It might be a vacuum leak common to those cylinders. I would start it up and spray some carb cleaner on the intake side of those cylinders.

^that's something that occured to me. if his motor is wired anything like an ls1, all of the coil packs on each side feed through one harness. being that one whole side is misfiring at once, that could be the culprit

If it's a whole bank, I'd bet it's an O2 sensor. Is it possible the rattling you hear is detonation? If so, get that fixed ASAP, or you're likely to have major problems.

I'd start with the one on the 2,4,6 side.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I had a problem with my cats a long time ago that caused similar issues. I took my car in to G-Force because it was detonating a lot. Mike tuned it and got it to be better, but it was still detonating. I upgraded the exhaust to Pacesetter longtubes, TSP catted Y-pipe, and a Magnaflow exhaust. After the re-tune, it went from 308HP to around 333HP, if memory serves. Mike said one of the cats was pretty well clogged up. Since I replaced everything at once, the problem got "fixed". I'm not sure how to test for a clogged cat. Might be that was what Cam72aro was having you do.

It could be the cat on that side. If its clogged its not gonna rattle. That would cause it to be choked up at higher rpm and could explain why its intermittent like it is.

you can just cut the cats out and run open manifolds around the neighborhood and see if that fixed it.. lol then just weld in some good magnaflow highflows or something.
