AIR pump took a crap

yes, most techs wouldn't know what is was whether it was there or not. Now technically speaking, you would fail, but I seriously doubt you would have a problem at all. Where are you talking about in Texas?

i believe obd2 cars arent subject to the sniffer test so as long as you get it tuned out you'll be fine. had the same thing happen to me last month, and somehow it developed into a short that was blowing my airpump/fan fuse. just pulled the relay and voila.

NOPE!
I am facing this right now. I get a "NOT READY" because my AIR pump and components are not hooked up to the headers etc.
'02 and up cars are only allowed One (1) "NOT READY" code. I'm getting Two codes= FAIL!
If you have an '02 and up, get a reading from a "friendly" inspection (no cost to hook up and read...it should take 5 seconds or less) If you already show one code, I would suggest leaving it hooked up.
