Default ***Updated***Spending a couple days in Dallas...useful info

Just wanted to hit you guys up and see if you could help me pick out some things to do in the DFW area. Taking my wife and kids to Six Flags, and we are gonna stay up in that area for a few days during spring break. So far this is all we have on the agenda......btw, 2 boys, 11 and 7.....

1) Six flags- obviously an all day deal
2.) Louis Tussaud's Palace of Wax/Ripleys museum
3.) Dallas World Aquarium
4.) Legoland - 7 yr old is obsessed with Lego's
5.) Speedzone

If any of these places suck, let me know.....we'll take them off the list.

Thats all we have for now. Any more places we should see? Also need some good places to eat. Any recommendations are much appreciated.

Thanks,

Billy

If you're looking for places to eat definitely check out Joe T. Garcia's ... It's down near the stockyards in Ft. Worth. The Stockyards are cool to see as well ... Could spend a few hours eating at Joe T's then walking around the Stockyards

Hurricane Harbor, Rainforest Cafe at Grapevine Mills Mall, I think lego land is in the same place, so you'll be able to knock all those out at the same time. You can also go to downtown Dallas and visit where JFK was shot. The West End is pretty much around the same place, so you can go check that out and ride on horse carriages to take you around. You can go to Turner Falls, which is an 1 hr to 1 1/2 hrs north of Dallas on the border of Oklahoma. Lots of things to do there, check out their website.

NRH20, a water park in north Richland hills is pretty good for the family. +1 for ft. Worth zoo, the botanical gardens are pretty cool too, maybe not for the kiddos. Stock yards is a good idea.

skip speedzone, old outdated arcades and go karts arent very fun,
like already stated fort worth zoo is a must and very large, will take at least half the day..
also may want to tour jerryworld, aka cowboys stadium its huge

Joe T Garcia isn't good IMO. Having grown up in the Houston area, there are very few Mexican restaurants up here that I would recommend to someone from further south.

+1 for the Ft. W zoo. Haven't toured Jerryworld yet, but plan on it. If you do the stock yards, the longhorn herd goes through @ 11:30 and 4:00 daily if you want to plan to see that.

Grapevine mall has a aquarium and legoland so for your kid that would be a blast. If in the Frisco area check out Kennys Burger Joint! Speed zone sucks. This weather is good weather for six flags so I would do that!

Alright, now we're getting somewhere!......so far, here's what we've changed.....

1. Got rid of Speedzone......

2. Might pass on the wax museum, kids are really wanting to see it since they've never been to one though.....

3. STILL cannot sell the wife on the zoo! How she can NOT want to go the zoo and be such an animal lover is beyond me......

4. Definately gotta see the JFK memorial......can't believe I didn't think of that...

5. We are gonna add the tour of Cowboys Stadium. Looks like a great tour. I was pissed when we had a tour/birthday party at Minute Maid and couldn't even go on the field.......looks like this tour allows for it, still gotta verify....

Keep the ideas coming guys. We really do appreciate all of the info.....

Thanks again,

Billy

Ill second huricane harbor. We took our 5 year old to south padre last summer. As far as she was concerned schlitterbond was the highlight of the trip. She couldn't understand why we didn't go everyday.

If you are in downtown there is a neat cattle drive monument by civic center. O wouldn't make a trip to see it, but if you went to the aquarium it would be worth checking out.

We like the Dallas aquarium, however it is pricey.

Gotta make the zoo, its huge! There is alot more tol it than just a normal zoo, its almost an amusement park of sorts. Plan for ATLEAST half a day. Honestly its one of mt favorite ways to spend a nice day here. Ripleys is kinda gimicky but the kids will probably enjoy it.

I liked Ripleys but it was pricy .. If you like Chicken fried steak you have to go to Babe's Fried Chicken... The best hands down it's also family style.

www.babeschicken.com

Babe's Carrollton, Texas I think this was the first one too.

If you do go to the zoo, make sure you go to the Fort Worth one and not the Dallas one. Fort Worth Zoo is way better and bigger. Also, if you're looking for some great steaks to eat, go to Nick and Sams or Bobs Steak and Chop house. If you go to Nick and Sams Steak house, warning, very upper class and no hats allowed. Also like they mentioned, Babes Chicken is really good and its also byob.
