looking to purchase a handgun...
i wasn't sure where to put this...
i'm looking to buy a handgun, for most of the right reasons, and i'm needing an opinion or two...
the main ones i'm looking at are
Beretta PX4 Storm .45ACP
Beretta m92FS
does anyone know anything about these? the storm seems to have gotten great reviews pretty much everywhere i look. if anyone has an opinion or can suggest a better handgun for a n00b to guns, please feel free to throw in your .02

Best thing to do is go to a range and rent a few diff ones. May find one you can shoot easier.
My first handgun was a Springfield XD45, rented and shot first, worth a look

the 92fs is a 9mm. a different animal than the .45, so take that into consideration.
i dont like the trigger on a 92fs.
i'm a big fan of 1911's and glocks. they just work. the springfield XD's are real nice as well.

I'm partial to Glocks. Random tidbit of information - I have seen them fire under water, no cleaning, and fire at the range 4 weeks later, without missing a beat. The firearm was rigorously cleaned afterwards for the sake of the owner. I have a heavily modified 24C, no where near compact enough to carry on my body, but I want a 26 for that.
I like 1911's as well. I have fired them on several occasions, but have only torn one down once a few years ago. Some say they are a pain to tear down, my experience was not that bad.
I used to own a Taurus 92 9mm copy of the Berreta 92. Worked very well for a lot less money. I ended up breaking the safety lever mechanism during a tear down and ended up selling it.

Do not decide on a pistol based on internet/magazine reviews. Go to gun shop and handle each firearm to see what fits your hand and shooting style. Personally I dont care for any of the beretta's. I shoot 1911's above all others and have an assortment of XD's also. Alot of people like glocks and they are great pistols, I just have never liked shooting them.

Springfield XD all the way. i have 2. a 9mm compact and a .40 subcompact for conceled carry. i like them most because of the 2 safteys. one on the trigger and one on the rear of the handle.

I recommend the Beretta PX4 Storm. I have the 9mm version and it is a great gun!
Easy to field strip, reliable and accurate. I do not like the night sights though.
I've made a few post on ls1 tech about it so feel free to search those down and see the write ups.

I'll also recommend going and shooting different guns. Would you choose what tennis shoe to wear based off what people say on a forum, by what you read in a magazine, or by what feels more comfortable? I choose comfort, and pistol choice is the same.
See which one fits your hand best. The PX4 just felt bulky to me. Nothing wrong with it, its just preference. I've owned a glock and sold it because it didn't feel as good in my hand as an XD or P239. I'm also more accurate with the latter two. I'm sure comfort plays a large role with that. They're all equally easy to take apart and reassemble.
Testing the guns first will help you avoid losers too. My wife liked the P250, but when testing it failed to fire several times for both of us and stove piped a live round so that got marked off the list.

I wouldn't get anything other than a 1911 or a gloc with a 2 to 3 lb trigger. Beretta, ruger, even the non 1911 smiths just have way to much trigger pull. It's like wondering when it's actually gonna fire. Go shoot some and you'll see what I'm talking about. You get what you pay for in firearms. I was a 240 gunner in the army and my side was a pos beretta, sometimes I thought I would rather just throw the piece of **** at people other than fire it.
