It would take TONS of hay but it is available and in season. I bet this is being used out there somewhere. I know they use TONS of have in Colorado for water run off and stuff like that. This is a lot better idea and more practical than some of the other stuff I have seen.

You're right in a way Josh, but remember that there is already a high demand of hay for many other things mostly includig livestock. So if we were to use all the hay to soak upthe oil, I believe we would be hurting alot of farmers. I've been around horses most my life and have bought it as low as 3$ a square bale, to 15$ a bale. Depends on season. It's not a bad idea at all, using the hay as an absorbent, but think of the prices of meat and everything hat will skyrocket due to the cost of feeding the cattle...just my .02

Old post. Plus i still wouldn't drink it. They also used motor oil, not the tar bubbles/crude that have been created by the desolvent. Believe it or not, Kevin Costner has a better idea than "Lets throw some hay on it". He builds machines that cycle the crude out, and has already sold 30 to BP.

ehh so what do you do with the crap load of oily hay once you try to collect it.....not many ways to get rid of it other then burning it in which case whats the point...save teh gulf from oil, kill it with a giant cloud of fumes lol.
