Dead Soldiers Purple Heart Stolen - Crowley TX
I know this is a car forum but this is in TX and hits home.
Reward for Missing Purple Heart Medal
Crowley is offering a $650 reward for information leading to recovery of a Purple Heart stolen from Crowley Public Library and/or arrest of suspect. You may remain anonymous. Call Investigator Wallace (817)297-2276, Ext. 6502.
This is from a Crowley resident "I am witholding his name" that died in action serving in Iraq. Needless to say, his family wants it BACK!
Mods, please forgive me if this is the wrong place. Just trying to spread the word and get the POS that did this.
Thanks,
TAM

The medal itself is about $15.00 at any military installation with a Clothing and Sales. Surplus stores may even have them. I understand the sentiment and emotional attachment, but the medal is only a medal and is replaceable.
Why the medal was awarded, however, can never be stolen.

It's not so much the medal but the actions behind it's awarding that make it's theft so heinous. A random reproduction purple heart that anyone can buy is one thing. It's a piece of metal and cloth. This specific one was awarded to a young man who paid the ultimate sacrifice for his country. That alone imbues it with even more value than one that is sold elsewhere.

I could imagine it was some type of nice plaque/frame with the original certificate. Yeah everything can be replaced but it's x1000 more than that.
