Default Texas emmisions laws

Need a clear explanation of how they work. Because im in the group buy for long tubes. My car passed california even with out air and egr. So should I put the LTs on after registering? What do they look for ? sniffer? visual(cats)?

thanks

Visual for Cats and EGR and tailpipes. If its a OBD2 car and no check engine light is on then your fine.If its pre OBD then a sniffer and dyno are used,BUT we all know there are more lenient stations out there

Austin is pretty strict but I passed without an egr or air. I also have cats and all SES tuned out.

^^^^ Dallas is getting a lil Strict now but yeah most of the places you go they asked you if u have them on or they'll look for them. Yeah every year But like any other city am pretty sure you can find friendly inpections if u don't pass it.

I'm in Dallas, and pass every year with non-emissions LT's and ORY.

remember, the sketchier the place looks, the less they check

Most major cities in Texas are non attainment zones and therefore can fail you on visual, fail you on OBDII, and fail you on tailpipe if they decide they want to run you on it.

What you are supposed to pass depends nearly entirely on where you live, by county, generally speaking.

the rules have changed. u cant run an obd2 car on the dyno and make it pass. not allowed to have a check engine light on and all systems must be ready exept for 2 on 96-00. 01+ can only have one system not ready

There are a handful of cars, most are 96-97, some Mitsubishis and a couple of other import cars. When you shut them off the computer resets itself, and you have to run it on the dyno.
