Default *Unable to turn ignition key*

I go out to start my car at work today and the key/ignition cylinder will not turn at all I have read up 'Column Lock' issues and have not seen this issue described in the symptoms. Am I possibly dealing with a BCM issue when the key will not even turn to ACC or ON? For grins I did pull the battery and put it on charger they have for the vehicles here at work, no dice. Could these be caused by a low voltage issue?

Thank you for the suggestions...

David

LOL guys...I think the tumbler is stuck in the ignition cylinder...FYI this is not an F-body, it's an 03 Z06. I should have mentioned that in my first post. The ignition is in the dash/console, not on the steering column. I have the ignition cylinder and electronics out of the car at this point, taking to a locksmith...

Oh, my bad. I assumed. That would be the next obvious thing. I was going to say puy the key in, jiggle it up and down while you try to turn it.

I did a quick search on CF and it looks like you will need a new lock cylinder. Keep me posted in case this happens to me too !

I got the cylinder turning and cleaned the contacts inside the ignition switch. No dice on the car firing..However; with the cylinder now turning to ACC/ON, I can get DTC codes. The BCM is throwing a B 2723 HC code, which appears to be pass key related. I am about to just replace the cylinder and possibly the ignition switch as well.

Well, that's a little progress at least. Did it give you any problems beforehand or did it just lock up on you ?

Then did you jiggle the dash? Always worked for me!

I found the issue...one of the sensors inside the ignition cylinder that measures the resistance of the VAT's pellet in the key is gone! I am guessing pieces of it ended up in the cylinder itself causing it to lock the cylinder briefly. I just need to buy a new lock cylinder for the ignition and find a locksmith willing to program the new key, or re-key the new cylinder to my old key...
