Default Houston-area folks, your attention please!

I'm going to be putting an LSx (as of now, unknown) into this:

Yeah, an Astro van. lol I'm in the Katy area, and over the next few months want to get this done. I'm looking for any kind of help from those that have turned wrenches. NO, I'm not asking for free labor. I can pay and make it well worth your time. There's just a few things I can't physically do myself, like taking out the subframe, or things I'm not quite comfortable with, like a cam change on an LS. A lot of the other stuff I can figure out. I put an LT1 into a Jaguar about 5 years ago, so this isn't TOTALLY new, but will be a learning experience. I'm also hoping y'all can keep an eye out for deals on the drivetrain or anything I might be able to use. I'm thinking of camming a new-ish 5.3 and starting there. Thanks, and I hope to be cruising in this thing in not TOOOO long.

Can't help but it will be cool, there was a Ford Aerostar a few years back pulling a front wheel at HMP.

A few reasons...off the top of my head:

1. Should be an easy swap. They probably don't get any easier.
2. It's cheap.
3. I can carry my friends around in it.
4. Just about everything else has been done to death.
5. I like weird $h!t.

Thanks. I'm not trying to make an 11-second van out of this thing.

yeah but you are putting a high hp/tq motor into a platform that was never designed for it. and i guarantee with an lsx in there you are gonna beat on it. i'm just saying...expect problems. and if i were you i would just have started with a van that already has a v8 in it. ie: 2005 express van with the lq4 in it.

I know what you're saying, but how many LSxs are in platforms that weren't designed for it? Any problems can be overcome in time as I break stuff.

PS - Your car sounds great!

well i guess all you really need to do is weld in some reinforcement in some key places, so if you have access to a welding machine then go far it. the worst that can happen is you **** up an astro van!

thanks man. i love spintech now. even if it is a little on the restrictive side(supposedly)

Not the same animal, but the stuff is the same - working out mounts, wiring, plumbing, cooling, etc. My low-budget LT1 Jaguar from 5 years ago...

Well the van IS already plumbed for propane, as the state runs mostly dual fuel vehicles. So maybe I can use the propane line for some laughing gas. See the blue diamond? And yeah, I'll probably even keep the spare tire rack on the rear...it'll just have a different wheel/tire on it to match whatever winds up on the van.

There's a few ZZ4 motor swaps out there . . . google them

Man, you just might save my bacon! As I see it, I'd like to pull the subframe as in the pic above, and roll it in the garage and R&R the engine/trans onto it, and roll it out and install it back under the van. I'm open to ideas on making that happen! I think I'll just prop the wheels up in the front of the van while the subframe is out, so everyone will think it's still a running vehicle.
