Should I trade my car for a 99 Z28 or keep it?
I have someone interested in trading his 99 z for my car. SOME of the things done to my car are listed in the sig along with a vid. Now, his car is a leather equipped, black on black, 6 speed, t-top car with the original chrome 5 spokes. Basically its a nice car BUT heres the kicker....it has no engine!!!!
I figure ive found a few 6.0's here in town I could drop in and I could step into the LS world fairly cheap and get a clean ride with working a/c, leather and a 6spd.
So what do you guys think? Keep my carbed 350 T/A or start over so I can get into an LS?
BTW, I found two 6.0's for $500 EACH and a 5.3 for $600.

Just remember if the car your looking at tradeing for doesn't come with an engine you will probly also have to buy all of the accessories like water pump, a/c comp., alternator, sensors etc. This stuff will add up quick. Depending on the mileage on the 99 z28 its probly only worth about $3000 tops. What is your car worth?

I make the T/A DD Vinyl bezels for him.
Thanks, makes me wanna keep it.+
Well, he says all it needs is a longblock but I have yet to go and look at the car myself. I looked up kbb private value on it and at 100k miles and in fair condition it was valued at 5k that is assuming it has a clean title. And I dont think my car is worth any more than your wheels. LOL! Seriously though no more than $3500 if im lucky.

dont worry about what the cars are worth. just matters what you think its worth. you have a car, it looks good, sounds even better, and im sure it scoots. youve obviously put some work into it and on top of it all, IT RUNS. the ls platform is indeed very nice, but at some point you have to draw the line. they're not miracle blocks, as many on here would have you think. a well built sbc is no slouch, and it seems thats exactly what you have there.
bigfatls6 has a point there. the cost of the block is easy, its all of the accessories, sensors, wiring, installation that gets ya. and thats assuming the transmission and rear are still good.

well thanks for the complements on the T/A, It looks like the guy flaked out anyway. Oh well....
I want to turbo the T/A now but Im worried the stock shortblock will crap out on me. I plan on doing it all myself to keep it as cheap as possible. But I think im going to do a basic rebuild first to make sure it lasts being that I dont want to make insane amounts of power a regular rebuild should do.

why not just swap a LS into what you have now? if you were willing to trade and do the whole longblock and possibly buying the accessories and wiring anyway then i would just swap it into your car. plus you can recoup some of your money buy selling your gen 1 when your done. thats how i would do it, the cost would've probably been the same, if not cheaper this way.
