Default 1973 Camaro Rs

Hey guys, i was at the nifty50s car show saturday, and there was a nice camaro there for sale, it had a 454 and 17 inch crager wheels with a nice paintjob, it was not 100%, missing a bolt here and there, upholstery needed a little work, but the exterior was pretty good, it fired right up and sounded very healthy.
The guy who was selling said the owner had about 30 grand into the car, but he did not bring a build sheet or spec list, i remember him say something about it being a 468 with forged pistons as well.

How do i know what is a good price for this?
What are typical things to look for, other than the obvious rust issue on these old cars, it was a cali car, so we could not find much rust on it, if any..

Asking 14,950, here is a link.

Nice looking car. Not an RS, otherwise it would have the split bumper nose on it.

Well, seeing as it is a Camero and not a Camaro, it is pretty rare and worth allot more.

lol yea, i thought that was a little funny, if they cant spell camaro right, how is the rest of the car?
anyways the guy is selling it for a customer, i will call tomorrow and get all the info on this car, if everything looks good i might drive up there and give him an offer..think along the lines of 12500, it is missing the ac, the owner wanted that to be bought seperate..

Seems like an alright deal. Don't know how street friendly a 468 would be but I am sure you wouldn't drive it every day like I would.

Why wouldnt a 468 be streetable? They use some fuel, but Ive daily driven big blocks, some of them that probably shouldnt have been on the street. All depends on how its built.

Mainly the fuel part. I like to drive my stuff and filling up once every three, maybe four days just sucks, it's why I sold the 80 Trans Am. If the 468 is built well it should actually still get decent mileage, but if it is a weekend toy it shouldn't matter. Anything that gets above 12mpg is good to me lol.

I had a 496 that knocked down 17mpg with 2.56 gears and a 350c lock-up trans. And it still had plenty of *****. Thats better than my 02 2500HD. Put a 4x4 cam in it and it should do great.

Lol if your in here complaining about fuel mileage in any high hp car your in the wrong game. It is what it is whether it gets 6 mpg or 25 mpg the way i see it i own these toys to have a blast not to scrimp on gas.

I saw this car last night too, on the trailer by the bank if I remember correctly. He had the same issue with spelling on the "For Sale" sign on the car too. Heard it start up, and it sounded pretty healthy. I didn't look it over too thoroughly, but it looked like it would be a good one to pick up, and make one's own.

yea. i think the 72 gets good mpg for what it is. with a 1300 cfm dominator it still pulls 15mpg at worst.

That is correct, i got to start it and give it a couple of revs.
Funny guy who we were talking to...
How much power would a 454/468 produce roughly?
how would i know if its jus a 250 hp cammed 4bolt truck motor?
For me gas usage is not really an issue, i plan on taking it overseas and sell it for some profit if i were to pick it up.
wondering if the guy is trying to sell it as an rs or just a clone

Apparently not since it doesn't have any RS parts on it. It's a good price for just a plain Camaro though. Probably pretty close to what I am going to try and sell my 70 for.
