HOUSTON -- The state's top criminal court says Texas drivers must have license plates on the front bumpers of their vehicles.
The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals said Wednesday it's not good enough to just have a plate displayed somewhere else toward the front of the car or truck, like inside the front windshield.
The case involves a man pulled over in Lubbock four years ago because his plate was wedged between the dashboard and the windshield. An officer subsequently found Tawin Spence had about a half-pound of cocaine stuffed in his pants. Spence was convicted and got 60 years in prison.
Spence appealed, saying his license plate clearly was visible, that he shouldn't have been stopped and that the drug evidence used to convict him of possession with intent to deliver cocaine was obtained improperly.

What kind of dumb *** smuggles cocaine and doesn't have their vehicle up to snuff as to not draw attention to themselves?
I agree about it being a bullshit law, but when I do get a ticket for no front plate, I'll just pay it.

I have gotten a warning too. I do keep a plate on the front of my T/A now .. just to not give them any reason at all to pull me over at all incase im doing some mexico driving ....

I've never had one on any of my cars in the past 12 years or so that I have been driving. In that amount of time I've had only one ticket for no front plate that was issued at the same time I got busted for speeding and it was dismissed. Other than that I have received maybe two warnings for it in the past 7 or 8 years. I will never rock a front plate on my car. Front plates are the

I've had my front plate on the windshield for months and this sunday I got a freaking ticket for that! 
I asked another cop about that law yesterday and he said he wouldn't have pulled me over just for that. He looked at the badge ID and he said it was a rookie just trying to be an ***. He suggested I take a picture where I have it now and take it to court. And I may just do that

lol.. but really.. this law is pretty retarded. Who gets pulled over from the front anyway? It's just used as an excuse to pull someone over who looks suspicous usually. I've gotten one ticket for front plate which was taken care of <.< >.>... I'll never put a front plate on, IDC how many tickets I get.
