Exclamation <<<Headlights - Seriously>>>

Quick question on the pop-up headlights????

This is probably old news but I have no idea as they just started making noise.

They will pop-up normal but when they go down they vibrate for a few seconds then stop. Its anoying as hell but here's the kicker. When I use my keyless entry my headlights pop-up and say hello everytime I push the button to lock/unlock the doors. How the heck do I fix that???

Now my security light is on and I can not dis-engage it because I do not have my factory radio to enter the code.

Can anyone help me on this?

ya it will fix the problem with ur remote. my 96 did that to after i the gears got stripped... another free way to go about fixing the problem is to remove to motors and turn the gear 180 degrees since only about half of the gear is use to make the headlights go up and down, that is what i did and it worked all the way up til i sold the car.

Yup, stripped gear its the cars way of telling you that. You can fix it for free if you want as a temp fix. Basically you manually raise the headlight and detach it from the motor then turn the gear in it 90 degrees so it will now use the other half of the gear which is still good. The motor only uses half of the gear to raise and lower the headlight its a great free fix I did it in my 02 v6 bird when I had it and was still working fine 6 months later not sure how its going now that I sold it.

Search bfranker on google he has the writeup to the free fix.

What he said^. I've done both. First time it happened, I did the 180 degree turn. That lasted for about a year. Then the other side got messed-up. I ordered the brass gears from BFranker - they were really nice and this has worked out perfectly.

But what about the part here he'll hit the remote and the lights pop up and down? I've had this for about 5 years now, just never felt like getting around to getting it fixed.

It's just part of the security cycle. The lights should have an internal stop, but the nylon gears get stripped and the motor turns and lights go up and down. You need the gears replaced inside the headlamp motor.

No! Leave it like that! It has the "Winky Eye Mod" done already.

j/k, new gears or motors will fix it, Advance Auto has the headlight motors remanufactured in stock.

Do the free fix first.

My passenger side started doing this last month.
Free fix took care of it.

Order the metal gears from Brent Franker's site and problems solved, its an easy fix. Doing the free fix is only temporary and means that eventually you'll have to open the motors up again and replace the completely worn nylon gears

There's no need to open up the motors to do the free fix.
Just an FYI.

Yup, just manually raise the light, and u have clear reach to the headlight motor....just detach the level that raises the headlight when the gear turns. After that just turn the gear halfway then put the lever back on and lower the headlight. Thats all you have to do its a great temp fix.

I tried to roll the gear first and it didn't work. I went to pick a part and purchased two already flood damaged motors and the gears were in perfect condition and it fixed the problem. Took me a whole 2 hours total.
