i really don't see the big deal. to me it's no worse than a baby getting circumcised(when done properly). and you do realize it's part of the breeds herritage right? and pits aren't the only breed that get their ears cropped.

I wouldn't go for a bully, they are short and aren't as athletic as a regular pit, although they look mean as hell. The breeder I bought my Rednose from was offering to clip her ears, I did not want them clipped.
She's about 100lbs in hese pics, i've been working on getting her a lil bigger on the muscular side.

Athos at 8mos, 4 days... the day after I picked him up from the vet
you can just see the separations in the fur where the stitches were - once removed, it looked like he was born that way
this dog is a Champion fwiw
and, literally every dog with cropped ears on these two sites was done at the 8-9mo mark

Cropping an 8-9 month old dog would be like circumcising a 3 year old, to use your your own example. Any practicing veterinarian performing this procedure on a dog this old should not only be sued for malpractice but brought before the Texas board of veterinary examiners and stripped of their license.

it's a commonly practiced medical procedure done with anethstestic and proper equipment.

you know there are grown adults that get circumcised as a personal choice right? i don't see how circumcising at any age is cruel. it's just a choice. and it's a commonly practiced medical procedure. just like ear docking.

cropping ears is common prior to 12 weeks of age. if youve read the entire thread youd see that my dogs ears are cropped. youd also read that i work in veterinary medicine and im not just speaking my opinion im speaking facts. cropping the ears over the age of 12 weeks is considered malpractice and cruel. its not only opinion but the opinion of the texas board of veterinary examiners. the only dr that would crop ears on a dog that old has stopped caring about the well being of his/her patients and started caring more about the size of thier wallet.
