I have a 2000 Firehawk with 130k miles, missing one centercap , ash tray lid is messed up, aftermarket tranny and powersteering cooler, etc. Based on the definition below (and pretty much ignoring #4 and #5), I would say it's very rare. Maybe even a one of a kind!

The same could be said for a car in disrepair, mismatched hood and hatch, etc. Rare is Rare... I think you are, as are the sellers, mistaken rare as being synonymous with good and desirable.

"RARE"
1. coming or occurring far apart in time; unusual; uncommon: a rare disease; His visits are rare occasions.
2. thinly distributed over an area; few and widely separated: Lighthouses are rare on that part of the coast.
3. having the component parts not closely compacted together; not dense: rare gases; lightheaded from the rare mountain air.
4. unusually great: a rare display of courage.
5. unusually excellent; admirable; fine: She showed rare tact in inviting them.

It's all an effort to either get people to notice their thread, or to justify asking too high of a price. I'm betting you clicked on each of those for sale threads, to see why the seller thought the car was rare. Mission accomplished.

actually i used to (2+ years ago), but now there is information on the side like mileage etc.... when i see "Rare" and "100K+miles" i dont click

I would consider a Dick Harrell car pretty rare, but not an 01 cloth interior, hardtop, with manual windows and 187k miles rare.... save that **** for craigslist and ebay

yeah, don't get me started. i laid into a guy selling a "rare" 1999 black Ws6 w/96,000mi for $14,000... KBB lists it for about 1/2 that...

people 'feel' they have the last f-body ever and have no clue as to what the real value of their vehicles are. idiots! its no wonder f-body prices are inflated the way they are.

sellers need to www.kbb.com their **** and pull their head out of their asses.

And just because it's rare doesn't make it valuable, I am sure a baby **** green Z06 would be pretty rare but it wouldn't be worth more.

Nobody gives a crap about build numbers of fbodies. I love the "1of only 26 made this year with xxx and zzz option combinations". Who the hell cares? Its still a red SS or a black ws6. These cars aren't worth anything, aside from the gmmg cars or whoever made those special editions. Even then a buyer is someone who is happy to overpay for those things.

Ive been wanting to rant on this for a while. Any F-body over $10k better be pretty damn pristine and low miles. I mean, I see a 60,000 mile WS6 for about $12,500 and an LS2 GTO for around $15,000 to $16,000 and a high mile C5 for about the same. Guess which one I am going to get.

--Just realized this is the Texas forum, my bad guys.

I think a TTA is pretty rare, I don't think I have ever actually see one driving around.

I wouldn't care though, I could have a Hemi Superbird and I would still drive that thing every day. "Rare" or "Number matching" just doesn't matter to me, a car is a car and I will enjoy it like one.

My thoughts exactly, these cars are 10+ yrs old and everybody who owns them think they are a classic. Well wait about 30 more yrs and then see if it is a classic or will end up in the wrecking yards like 100's of 1000's did back in the days. Everybody needs to face the fact that our cars are not worth crap until they hit about 30 yrs old unless you have that rare volkswagon in pink, or you own something like a Ford Gt or something like it.

They are out there, allot of them, just are just sheltered and no pulled out very often. For me, rare is like a ZL1,92 Firehawk, something along that line.

There should be a sticky in all the forsale forums with links to nada guide and kbb. It should also say, "to save you search time, I regret to inform you that your fbody isn't worth crap. Under almost no circumstance will your fbody be worth more than 10k. So please refrain from posting up you 100k mile fbodies for $14kobo. Thank you for your time and attention in this matter."

When someone is asking around the same price for a fbody that you can get a c5 Vette for I just ignore them.

No fbody is worth over 10k to me

Is it me or when you post up a 35th anniversary Camaro, it better be the legit "35th Anniversary package" not some V6 or Z28.
