Default So I get a ticket last night

Around 10:15 on Mcneil road. Cop said I was doing 70 in a 45. No other cars around yada yada. He wrote me up for 60 in a 45. But heres the kicker. I had my interior lights on to see my registration and the cop commented that BLUE lights were illegal, and I need to change them or wil get another ticket if Im seen. So is he full of **** or what? I have all blue LEDS gauges, interior lights.

Need a little more detail. So are you saying just your dome/map light is blue? Instrument cluster and such? It is possible that it's a municipal ordinance, in which case your best bet is to call the local govm't and ask.

it would only be illegal if you were driving with them on and the cars around you could see them from my understanding.

Jake is correct. The dome light is what he was probably talking about. I have blue instrument and dash lights and no cop has ever mentioned it to me.

Not in Tx. You CAN drive with your interior lights on. Doesn't matter what color they are. At least that's what my defensive driving instructor told a class full of people a couple of years ago. And I can't find anything in the law books about it either thou. Doesn't mean that it is safe to do so.

You just can't have any red/blue lights pointing toward the front of the vehicle. All these volunteer firefighters around here like to run red/blue as well...but they're only allowed to run red only.

Cant have anything but white and amber visible from the front of the vehicle. and red and white on the rear of the vehicle. If its interior and doesnt show at night on the outside you are fine.

Used to have a local pig(literally... the guy was massive.) that hassled me all the time about the blacklights I had for interior lighting in my 95 camaro. Couldnt see them at all at night but if he saw me driving around he'd pull me over and see what all he could ticket me for.

Yea turn signals on front have to be "a white or amber light, or a color between white and amber, if the lamp is mounted on the front of the vehicle; or: a red or amber light, or a color between red and amber, if the lamp is mounted on the rear of the vehicle. Also no more than 4 white lights towards the front of the vehicle at any time.

its at the discretion of the officer if they want to pull you over or not... you can get a ticket but it can be dismissed the same as driving without lights or a broken light. you'll have to provide proof you bought and changed the light before or on your court date see my avatar pic -> green lights fog and turning leds and the housing glass was tinted green haven't been stopped yet for lights. I know people who have purple - pink - blue hids
